[New Release] OneStepCheckout for Magento 2 version 1.2.047 supports Amazon Pay 5.x

Our new version brings support to Amazon Pay version 5.x as well as new registration features. We’ve also enriched our documentation, especially on how to add footers and headers to the checkout layout as well as how to localize the street field label.

Why offering Amazon Pay is a good idea?

With over 300 million active members worldwide, chances are that online shoppers who visit your store are also Amazon members. The benefit of integrating Amazon Pay to your Magento website is that it addresses no less than three major friction points that drive cart abandonment:

  1. Account creation. 37% of carts are abandoned because shoppers are forced to create an account. With Amazon Pay, members can use their existing accounts credentials
  2. Form filling hassle. 28% of online shoppers leave checkout because the form is too long or too complicated to fill out. With Amazon Pay, default shipping address and financial details are safely stored and can be used with just a click.
  3. Trust. 19% of consumers abandon their carts because they don’t trust unknown online stores. With Amazon Pay, they know that their personal information stays with Amazon Pay and are not shared with any merchants

OneStepCheckout supports Amazon Pay v.5 for Magento 2

In March 2021, Amazon released a brand new version of their payment plugin for Magento 2.

Amazon Pay version 5 is now replacing versions that were previously included in core Magento releases. Read more details about Amazon Pay Magento 2 plugin releases on Github.

With these core changes, Amazon Pay v5. support is now added to OneStepCheckout for Magento 2 thanks to the close collaboration between our team and the team at Amazon who was prepared to put in the required resource to maximize the modularity and flexibility of their Magento 2 payment plugin.

Forced registration feature

Forced registration is now possible, making it compulsory for end-users to choose a password for registration before they can complete checkout.
